Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant

Bring two organisations into one Microsoft 365 tenant, or divide one into two. Everyone's mail, archives, files, sites and Teams arrive intact, and you finish with a record an auditor can still read a year later.

Data in transit between two systems

The situation

A deal has closed and two companies have to work as one, on a date somebody has already announced. Or a division is being sold and its people have to leave with their data, and only their data. Microsoft 365 has no button for either.

Who it is for

Companies completing a merger or acquisition, selling part of the business, or bringing together tenants that grew up separately.

What people worry about

Will everyone's mail be there on Monday? Will anybody lose something they need, or keep access to something they should not? We plan the changeover with you, tell your staff in advance exactly what will look different, and give you one place to watch progress in the run-up.

What you get

Included in the engagement

  • Every person matched to the right account, and confirmed with you before anything moves
  • Mail, online archives, calendars and contacts for every mailbox
  • OneDrive files, SharePoint sites and Teams
  • Teams channel conversations and private one-to-one and group chats, carried across under the people who wrote them and with their original dates
  • Files shared in a chat follow the person who sent them, and the links in the message are pointed at the new location
  • Access and security policies carried across safely, so nobody is locked out
  • A planned changeover, so email addresses change once and nobody is surprised
  • Splitting one tenant into two, domain by domain, for divestitures
  • A counted result: what moved, what did not, and why

What it means

Nothing missing everything that moved is checked against the original
Nothing hidden what could not move is listed in the report, with the reason
Uninterrupted your people keep working while data is copied

How it runs

What happens, in order

  1. 01

    Discover

We look at both environments as they are today and tell you what is there, how much of it, and what needs a decision.

  2. 02

    Agree

You confirm who maps to whom and what is in scope. Nothing moves until you have said yes.

  3. 03

    Copy

Everything is copied in the background while your people carry on working, and you can watch progress the whole way.

  4. 04

    Switch

On a date you choose we change over mail and addresses, and we stay with you through the first morning.

  5. 05

    Prove

You receive a report of what moved, what was checked, and anything that did not, with the reason.

Worth knowing up front.
  • Channel conversations need a one-off approval from Microsoft to read from your current tenant, and Microsoft charges for that access. Some tenants need the same approval to read private chats. We raise it with you at the start, not part-way through.
  • Meeting chats, reactions, inline images and @mentions are not carried across. We say so up front, not after the switch.
